17th Bangalore Film Festival concludes; Lifetime Achievement Award for Hamsalekha

Bangalore International Film Festival (BIFFes) The 17th edition was launched on Friday (February 6) night at Lulu Mall in the city. Japan’s ‘Lost Land’, Marathi’s ‘Sabar Bonda’ and Kannada’s ‘Vanya’ won the ‘Best Cinema’ awards in the Asia, India and Kannada categories of the film festival respectively. Senior Lyricist and Music Director Hamsalekha He was honored with Lifetime Achievement Award.

Minister Dinesh Gundurao participated as the chief guest in this program. Chirotsava Ambassador Prakash Raj, Karnataka Film Academy President Dr. Sadhu Kokila, President of Karnataka Film Board of Trade Dr. Jayamala and others were present in this function.

Hamsalekha spoke on the stage. ‘There is no conclusion to the ceremony related to art. That’s the beginning. Creation is continuous. It never stops. There is no difference between farmers, laborers and cinema people. One does not make a movie. It is collective farming,’ he said.

The state government has given full support to this film festival. It is a pleasure to receive a lifetime award. We owe it to Kannada Nadi. We live in Kannada. Art is food for the soul. Art fodder has been grazed for six decades. The rationality and spirituality here have raised me. Hamsalekha said that a film should be made to protect democracy in the country of Basava, where the seeds of democracy were sown.

Minister Dinesh Gundurao, who participated as the chief guest, said, ‘You can watch movies in other languages ​​through cinematography. It is a film festival that aims to take art to a higher level. I agree that art is responsible for saving democracy. All kinds of movies should come. Commercial, artistic should come all the way. There should be no fear in art. There should be expression’, he said.

Prakash Raj, ambassador of the film festival said, ‘Though the language is different, the feeling is the same. Although the grammar is different, the concept is the same at its core. Cinema is a new language in human evolution. It records his culture, his pain, his cry. Chirotsava is a platform to share different human perceptions of the world. The pain caused to the country and the society is a big pain. Movies should document such pains. In this regard Chirotsava is a festival. Honoring Hamsalekha has enhanced the meaning of the festival,’ he said.

Karnataka Film Academy President Dr. Sadhu Kokila said, ‘India’s biggest film festival is ours. I would like to thank the government and officials who have worked hard for this,” he said. Hemant M.
