Women’s Premier League Season-4 (WPL 2026) is off to a grand start. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a thrilling 3-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in the opening match at the DY Patil Stadium. With this, RCB has put an end to their poor record of losing the first match against Mumbai in the last three seasons.
Chasing the target of 155 runs given by Mumbai, Smriti Mandana and Grace Harris gave a good start to RCB with 40 runs. However, after the pair separated, the Mumbai bowlers took control of the match. While the wickets kept rolling in, Nadine de Klerk, on the other hand, struggled alone. Mumbai was confident of victory till the last over of the match.

RCB needed 18 runs off the last over to win. When Natalie Siver did not get a run in the first two balls, RCB’s defeat was thought to be certain. However, Nadine de Klerk, who scored 6, 4, 6, 4 in the last four balls, gave the team a historic victory with a half-century. Arundhati Reddy (20) and Prema Rawat (8) gave good support to De Klerk’s fight, who smashed an unbeaten 63 runs (7 fours, 2 sixes) in just 44 balls.
