5 killed, 40 injured when bus carrying tourists overturns in Odisha; many buried under the bus

Odisha The news of a very painful road accident has come to light from Nayagarh district. A tourist bus met with an accident here late on Friday night. At least 5 people died in this accident, including 4 women, while more than 40 passengers are said to be injured. According to the information, this accident happened in Hanuman Ghati area near Takraghat under Daspalla police station area of ​​Nayagarh district. There were about 60 passengers in the bus, who had set out from Brahmapur to visit Harishankar. During the journey, the bus driver suddenly lost control over the vehicle.

The bus overturned after hitting a stone

It is being told that after losing control, the bus directly collided with a big stone and then overturned. The collision was so severe that many passengers fell out of the bus, while more than 10 people got buried under the bus. In this accident, 5 people including bus driver Praveen Sahu lost their lives. The deceased have been identified as Hari Patra, Lakshmi Patra, Suprabha Sahu, Sumati Sahu and bus driver Praveen Sahu. All the deceased are said to be residents of Brahmapur. As soon as information about the incident was received, Daspalla and Banigochha police station, fire brigade team and ambulance reached the spot.

People were buried under the bus

As soon as the information was received, relief and rescue operations were started immediately. Gas cutters were used to rescue people trapped under the bus. The injured were first taken to Daspalla Community Health Centre, where first aid was provided. Around 15 seriously injured people were later referred to the district headquarters hospital. At present, the police have started investigating the matter and the exact reasons for the accident are being ascertained.
