Can a television channel make a documentary about a movie and broadcast it? Such a question has been made possible by the movie “Koragajja”. Yes…Maharashtra Doordarshan’s Sahyadri channel has set a new trend by telecasting a documentary on Sudhir Attavar’s movie “Koragajja” yesterday at 10.30 pm on its channel. Also rebroadcasting today. The documentary will also be available on Doordarshan Prasar Bharati’s “Waves” OTT platform.
The event was showered with heartwarming praises from journalists from different parts of the country for the very different day-long audio launch and kolaseva held to mark the occasion. A new record was created by launching the audio of the film through Zee Music in the presence of journalists from Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Kochi, Bengaluru, Mangalore and other parts of the country. On the same day night, in the presence of thousands of people and more than two hundred journalists, a Kola service was also held for the vijrambhane of the god “Koragajja”. As this was a new experience for the journalists who had come from all over the country, the news of Koragajja film started spreading in print, TV and digital media all over the country.

For about 15 years, dozens of producers and directors had tried to make a film about Koragajjan. But after Sudhir Attavar took up the project, the film is witnessing new events and new ideas. Jaijagadish and Vijayalakshmi Singh, who participated in the whole day program, said this while the film team paid their respects.

The entire program was designed by director Sudhir Attavar and EP Vidyadhar Shetty in a very different style. When our national song “Jai Bharat Janani Tanujate” was played, everyone stood up and paid their respects. In that day’s program, a minute’s silent prayer was offered to those killed in the Delhi bomb blast, and the entire program was kept on the theme of Yakshagana.
First prayer by Yakshagana Balagopala, Viprara Vedaghosas along with many disguises, two giant sized Zee Music logos brought in procession with bells, horns, trumpets, balls, Vice President of Zee arriving from the cut-outs, famous artists Bhavya and Shriti released through an old gramophone. The audio of the film is so unique that the program may have inspired Mumbai’s Doordarshan to make a documentary.
