Seabird sleeper bus crash – more than 10 passengers burnt alive! – Btv Kannada

Chitradurga: After the Hyderabad bus accident, another horrific accident took place on National Highway 48 near Hiriyur in Chitradurga. Due to a collision between a lorry and a private bus, the bus caught fire and more than 10 passengers were burnt alive.

A canter lorry coming from Hiriyur towards Bengaluru collided with the Seabird sleeper bus which was going to Gokarna from Bengaluru. Due to the negligence of the lorry driver, the lorry crossed the divider and collided head-on with the bus, causing the bus to catch fire immediately.

There were 29 passengers including 15 women and 14 men in this 32-seater bus. As the fire spread rapidly, the sleeping passengers could not get out and more than 10 people were burnt alive. The injured have been admitted to Hiriyur, Sira and Chitradurga hospitals and the death toll is feared to rise.

There were 25 people from Gokarna, two passengers each from Kumta and Shimoga in the bus. The passenger list includes Manjunath, Sandhya, Shashank, Dileep, Pritheeswaran, V. Bindu, K. Kavita, Anirudh Banerjee, Amrita, Isha, Suraj, Manasa, Milana, Hemraj Kumar, Kalpana Prajapati, M. Shashikant, Vijay Bhandari, Navya, Abhishek, H. Kiran Paul and M. Kirtan has his name.

Chitradurga SP Ranjith Kumar and IG Ravikante Gowda visited the spot as soon as the incident came to light. Police and fire brigade personnel are engaged in rescue operations in full swing to remove the charred bodies.
