Chikmagalur: A minor fight over cigarettes in the midst of alcohol turned into a tragedy and a young man was stabbed with a knife at Shakti Nagar in Chikkamagaluru city.

At a bar in Shakti Nagar of the city, two gangs got into an altercation over sharing or asking for cigarettes. The youths who were under the influence of alcohol screamed at each other. At this time, the fight broke out and a young man of one group suddenly attacked the opposing group with a knife he had.

Anil Kumar, a resident of Moogtihalli village, was seriously stabbed in this attack. Anil Kumar fell in a pool of blood as a result of being stabbed in the stomach and body. Immediately after the commotion, the knife-wielding gang fled from the spot.

The entire scene of the horrific scuffle and stabbing at the bar was caught on CCTV. The video clearly recorded how the youths fought with each other and escaped with a knife.

Anil Kumar, who was seriously injured, was admitted to Government Hospital in Hassan for further treatment. He is currently undergoing emergency treatment. As soon as the incident came to light, the Chikkamagaluru city police, who had launched an operation, arrested the main accused in the stabbing. The knife used in the attack has been recovered and the search for the rest is on. A case has been registered in Chikmagalur city police station in this regard and the police have taken further legal action.
