attempted murder

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Janardhan Reddy claimed that the attack on his residence in Bellary on New Year’s Day was “not an ordinary political clash, but a planned assassination attempt by Congress MLA Nara Bharat Reddy and his associates.” Accusing the local police of inaction and negligence, he said the threat to his life had now reached “peak”. Referring to the incident, Janardhan Reddy said that around 2 pm, Bharat Reddy’s supporters tried to put up banners illegally in the area inside the fence of his house, which were removed after police intervention.

Accusations against Bharat Reddy

MLA Janardhan Reddy alleged that at around 5.30 pm, Bharat Reddy’s close associate Satish Reddy along with 40-50 armed men entered his premises carrying bottles, stones, sticks and sharp weapons and issued open threats, while the police remained a mute spectator. He told that after his return from Gangavati, the atmosphere became more tense at around seven in the evening. He alleged that Sathish Reddy and his men launched the direct attack on the orders of MLA Nara Bharat Reddy. He alleged that during this time a gunman opened fire targeting him and his house. “By the grace of God and luck I had a narrow escape, but the police failed to control the situation,” he said.
