Monkey disease fears – Another case of KFD detected in Kafinada

Chikmagalur: The threat of monkey disease (KFD) continues in Kaffinad and another positive case has been detected in NRpur taluk. With this, the total number of cases in the district has increased to two.

A 30-year-old man from Kattinamane village of NRpur taluk has been confirmed to have monkey disease. After the appearance of fever, the young man was tested and found to be infected with KFD. The infected young man is currently being treated in the special KFD ward of Koppa Government Hospital.

A total of two cases have been confirmed in the district so far. Another person who was already infected was admitted to Manipal Hospital for further treatment due to other health problems.

After the case was detected in Kattinamane village, the officials of the health department visited the village. Officials who have reviewed the situation in the village have taken precautionary measures to prevent the spread of infection. The villagers have been informed about the cleanliness around the house and instructed to be careful while going to the forest area.
