Now information has come to light that India will also have the presence of indigenous Long Range Anti Ship Missile (LR-ASHM). The presence of this missile is an important indicator of India’s indigenous maritime strike capability.

What are the characteristics of the missile?

LR-ASHM missile has been developed by India’s Defense Research and Development Organization i.e. DRDO. This missile is a state-of-the-art system, specifically designed to destroy enemy warships with precision from long ranges. DRDO’s LR-ASHM missile has a range of more than 1,000 kilometers. These missiles provide effective long-range stand-off anti-ship strike capability to the Indian Navy.

Game changer for maritime warfare capability- DRDO chief

DRDO chief Dr Sameer V Kamat has called LR-ASHM a “game-changer” for India’s maritime warfare capability. He has said that this system provides new strength to the long-range precision strike and deterrence capability of the Indian Armed Forces, and also strengthens the goal of self-reliant India. Let us tell you that LR-ASHM strengthens the Sea Control and Sea Denial strategy of the Indian Navy and clearly reflects India’s maritime power, deterrence and strategic edge in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
