The administration is on full alert after the gas leak and blowout at the Mori #5 site of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) located in Irusumanda village of Konaseema district. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, taking information about this incident, has issued strict instructions to the District Collector and the local MLA.

The Deputy Chief Minister spoke to the District Collector and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar inquired about the impact of the explosion caused by gas leakage at Mori #5 ONGC site at Irusumanda village in Konaseema district. District Collector Mahesh Kumar explained the measures being taken in the Irusumanda area and said that schools within a radius of one kilometer of the leak site have been evacuated. He informed that NDRF and SDRF teams are ready. Relief camps have been set up and people are being evacuated from areas around the Mori #5 ONGC site.

Do not spread rumors on social media

Speaking to District Collector and Rajole MLA Deva Varaprasad, the Deputy Chief Minister directed him to continuously inform the people of the surrounding areas about the leakage. He said that it should be ensured that rumors and worrying information are not spread on social media. He also directed to take measures to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby coconut groves. He suggested that since it is winter season, essential medicines and blankets should be provided to those living in relief camps.
