‘Cold Torture’ in North India, chill from Delhi-NCR to Bihar; rain in three states

Weather Update: It is extremely cold these days in North India. A thick blanket of dense fog has engulfed Delhi-NCR to Bihar. Due to this, visibility on the roads has reached near zero. Early in the morning it feels as if the entire city is situated amidst clouds. The icy winds coming down from the mountains have created chill in the plains.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of severe cold wave in 21 cities of North India. The cities which will be hit by cold wave today include Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Kanpur, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Bijnor, Agra, Tundla and Muzaffarnagar of Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, cold is going to wreak havoc in the hilly states today. At the same time, Tuesday was the coldest day of January so far in Kolkata. During this period the minimum temperature reached 10.2 degrees Celsius.

How is the weather of Delhi?

According to the Meteorological Department, there has been a warning of a dangerous cold wave from the morning of January 7 till 11 pm. The minimum temperature in Delhi today may drop to 5 degrees Celsius.

At the same time, cold wave will blow at the speed of 10 to 15 in the morning in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Faridkot, Moga, Bathinda of Punjab. An alert of dense fog and cold wave has also been issued in Gurugram, Sonipat and Panipat of Haryana.

Chances of rain in three states today

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has also issued a warning of rain in three states. According to the latest update of the Meteorological Department, there are chances of light to moderate rain in the southern states of the country – Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andaman Nicobar in the next 48 hours. Fishermen have been asked to be cautious during this period. Due to rain, the temperature in these states will drop by 2 to 3 degrees. At the same time, recently there was rain in the higher parts of North India like Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand. At present there is less chance of rain.
