Conditional ban on arrest of stray dogs in Telangana, High Court’s big decision on NGO’s petition

Hyderabad: Association for Animal Shelter and Rescue Aid i.e. AASRA, an NGO working for the adoption and rehabilitation of stray dogs in Hyderabad, Telangana, has strongly raised the issue of cruelty being meted out to stray dogs in the guise of following the directions of the Supreme Court. NGO founder Gauri Vandana and her colleague Hanumant Rao presented before the Telangana High Court with evidence of the treatment being done to stray dogs at the Birth Control Center in Hyderabad. After this, the High Court placed a conditional ban on the capture of stray dogs.

Cruelty to stray dogs not tolerated

The High Court said in its order that the department cannot misbehave with stray dogs in order to implement the instructions of the Supreme Court. First their counting… To carry out this work as per the set standards, the relocation of stray dogs will be done only after the appointment of a nodal officer and adequate shelter home facilities.

The High Court also gave permission to the NGO to check whether this entire process is being followed properly or not. Asra will have the right to investigate it, they can go there and take photos or videos.

NGO said these things

Hanumanth Rao, Animal Cruelty Officer of Aasra, said that stray dogs are subjected to cruelty in the Animal Birth Control Center in Amberpet. This association is fighting to relocate the stray dogs with dignity. Aasra NGO is working towards providing permanent shelter to the rescued animals through adoption and foster program.

AASRA is committed to spreading awareness of animal cruelty, responsible pet ownership and the importance of animal welfare. Through educational programs and community outreach, the NGO is also running awareness campaigns to inculcate compassion and respect for animals.
