He achieved this feat in the first ODI against New Zealand. As soon as he entered his 309th ODI, Kohli left behind former Indian captain and legendary batsman Sourav Ganguly.

Kohli has now played 309 ODI matches for India. Ganguly played 308 ODI matches for India. Now only Sachin Tendulkar (463), Mahendra Singh Dhoni (347), Rahul Dravid (340) and Mohammad Azharuddin (334) are ahead of Kohli. Apart from these greats, Yuvraj Singh (301) is the only player who has played more than 300 ODI matches for the Indian team. Apart from Kohli, all the players have retired.

Kohli (95) is the player to captain India in the fourth most number of ODI matches after Dhoni (200), Azharuddin (174) and Ganguly (146). Under Kohli’s captaincy, India won 65 ODIs and lost 27. Apart from this, one match was tied while the other two could not result. Rohit Sharma captained India in 56 matches and won 42 matches.

Kohli’s statistics in ODI cricket are amazing

Kohli is now considered the greatest batsman of ODI cricket of all time. He has more than 14,500 runs in his name in this format, which is the second highest after Sachin (18,426). Last year, Kohli became the fastest player to complete 14,000 ODI runs. He achieved this milestone in just 299 matches and 287 innings. Kohli is the only batsman to score more than 50 centuries in ODIs, with 53 centuries to his name.
