New Delhi: Today is the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the idol of millions of youth. He was born on 12 January 1863 in Calcutta. He is such a great man of the country, whose teachings are spreading the light of knowledge among the youth even today. But do you know how the light of knowledge spread in the life of Swami Vivekananda? All the credit for this goes to his guru Ramakrishna Paramahamsa.

The reason for the meeting between Vivekananda and his guru Ramakrishna Paramahamsa is very interesting. Actually this meeting happened because of a “Roushogulla” (sweet), which immortalized the names of the Guru and the disciple forever.

“Roushogulla” became the reason for the meeting of Vivekananda and Ramakrishna Paramhansa

Vivekananda’s childhood name was Narendra and he loved “Roshogulla” (sweets) right from the beginning. Not only this, he was also very excited about other food items. He liked ice cream as much as he liked Roshogulla. He did not miss eating ice cream even in winter.

Vivekananda also met Ramakrishna Paramhansa because of eating “Roshogulla”. In fact, Vivekananda’s cousin Ramchandra Dutta told him that Ramakrishna Paramahansa feeds Roshogulla to every visitor in the Dakshineswar temple. Therefore you should walk. After listening to his cousin, Vivekananda said that if he did not find Roshogulla in the temple, he would pull the ears of Ramakrishna.

However, when Vivekananda went there, it turned out to be true and Vivekananda also found his guru in the form of Ramakrishna.

This is mentioned in the book named ‘Swami Vivekananda: The Feasting, Fasting Monk’. In this book, many things related to Vivekananda’s food habits are mentioned.

Vivekananda’s seniors called this meeting between him and Swami Ramakrishna Paramahansa as “spirituality based on sweets”. But with the passage of time the relationship between guru and disciple became so strong that the example of Vivekananda as a disciple is cited. His devotion to his Guru was unique.
