What was the purpose of this mission?
The 44.4 meter long four-stage rocket was launched by ISRO on time at 10.18 am. The objective of this PSLV-C62 mission was to place a primary Earth observation satellite and several co-passenger satellites in a 512 km sun-synchronous orbit. According to the information revealed, the first two stages of the mission worked perfectly. However, at the end of the third stage, a problem with the spacecraft came to light.
Where did the mistake happen?
ISRO Chairman V Narayanan on Monday gave information about the glitch in the PSLV-C62 mission. He addressed the team at the Mission Control Center and said – “PSLV is a four-stage vehicle. It consists of two solid stages and two liquid stages. ISRO’s vehicle performed as expected till the end of the third stage. However, during the last phase of the third stage, more disturbances were observed in the vehicle and thereafter, a change in the flight route was observed.”
