The company claims that in the future people will be able to book a hotel room on the moon for about $2.5 lakh (about Rs 2.25 crore). For this, the company is currently taking huge deposits in the form of advance booking. This scheme is still in its initial stages, but it has definitely sparked discussion.

Who is GRU Space and what is its purpose?

GRU Space is a new startup founded by Skyler Chan. GRU in the company name stands for ‘Galactic Resource Utilization’. Its long-term goal is to settle humans in space using resources from the Moon, Mars and asteroids. The company has received a seed funding from Y Combinator, which has given some strength to its idea and also increased the confidence of investors.

When will the mission be launched?

The company plans to launch its first test mission in 2029. In this, a small inflatable structure will be sent to the moon, so that the potential of the technology can be shown. After this, in the second mission, there is a plan to make bricks from lunar soil and prepare big structures. GRU Space believes that to live on the Moon, not only rockets but also strong structures and facilities will be necessary.

First lunar hotel in 2032

GRU Space aims to launch its first moon hotel in 2032. This will be an inflatable structure, in which four people can stay at a time. After this, the company plans to build more strong hotels, which will be made of moon bricks. The company says that just as roads and buildings were built to establish cities on Earth, similarly a habitable place for humans will have to be built on the Moon.
