New Delhi. The address of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is changing from the day of Makar Sankranti. Along with this, the name of PMO has also changed. PMO will now be known as Seva Tirtha. The new Prime Minister’s Office is built on an open floor design. Instead of closed cabins, officers will now be seen sitting together and working. Whose objective is to promote cooperation and faster coordination. Senior officials say the design is aimed at changing how people interact within the system and reducing the layers of formality that come with an old building.

What is special in Seva Teerth

Seva Tirtha has been built from the ground up with encrypted communication systems, advanced cyber security networks and integrated security architecture. Officials say the building is earthquake resistant and designed to remain operational in all conditions. An important additional facility is a modern conference facility known as ‘India House’ within the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) complex. It is designed for high-level bilateral meetings, international conferences and press interactions. Earlier there was no such dedicated space within the PMO, for which many arrangements had to be made at different places.

Cabinet Secretariat and Office of the National Security Advisor at Seva Teerth

Seva Teerth is not just the new address of PMO. It brings together the highest centers of governance in a single complex. Seva Tirtha One houses the PMO, Seva Tirtha Two houses the Cabinet Secretariat and Seva Tirtha Three houses the National Security Council Secretariat, as well as the office of the National Security Advisor. In the old system, these institutions operated from separate locations, which often slowed coordination on sensitive matters. According to officials, Seva Teerth, built at a cost of around Rs 1,200 crore, shows that the regime is not just changing locations but is also deciding how power will be exercised.

Old office will become museum

Once the PMO completely vacates the South Block, the historic North and South Block will be converted into a public museum, the Museum.
