The countdown to the much awaited 17th Bangalore International Film Festival has started and the film festival will kick off on January 29 in the evening in front of the Vidhana Soudha.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the film festival. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Chirotsava ambassador multilingual actor Prakash Raj, actress Rukkuni Vasanth, dignitaries of Kannada film industry and guests from home and abroad will be present in the program.
The films will be screened from January 30 to February 6 across 11 screens of Cinepolis, located at Lulumal, Rajajinagar, Bangalore. Apart from Cinepolis, Lulumal, Kannada Film Artists Association and Suchitra Film Society will also have film screenings.
Around 225 best films from 65 countries will be screened in this film festival, which will depict the state of affairs, people’s life and culture of each country. The best films that participated in the prestigious film festivals of the world are participating in the 17th Bangalore International Film Festival. Best movies from America, Britain, Germany, France, Korea, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Finland, Iran, Argentina, Canada, Denmark, Greece, Russia, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Japan, Spain, Indonesia, Italy, Australia, China, Kyrgyzstan, etc. through Contemporary World Cinema section. The film will be screened at the festival under the title “World in Bangalore”.

The International Film Festival is characterized by a meaningful motto every year. This time the 17th Bangalore International Film Festival is being celebrated with the tag line “Stree Sensation, Voice of Equality” with the line ‘Stree Is Adha Sake’, a famous song of National Poet Dr GS Shivarudrappa, as per the wishes of the Chief Minister.
During the days of the film festival, there will be academic programs such as talks, lectures, masterclasses, seminars with experts related to film production, direction, cinematography, technology and industry.

Masterclass on (We, and Our Cinema) by Chirotsava Ambassador Prakash Raj. A masterclass on the importance of film editing by renowned editor Srikar Prasad. A Masterclass on Contemporary Film Narrative and Style by Director – Composer Mahesh Narayanan. Transcendental Sound – A master class on the art of audiography by renowned sound designer Biswadeep Chatterjee. Beyond Conventional Ideas – A Master Class on Film Storytelling by Anurag Kashyap.
Renowned cinematographer V.K. Murthy Annual Memorial Lecture – Master Class on ‘Selection of Lenses, Lighting Design and Art of Photography’ conducted by Senior Photographer GS Bhaskar. Girish Kasaravalli, Dr. Sadhu Kokila, Dr. A conversation with Jayamala and others about the last four decades of Kannada cinema. Masterclass on “Ourselves and Reality in Film Narratives” by Girish Kasaravalli. A dialogue program based on the theme of Chirotsavam will be organized by the Karnataka Authors Association.
Discussion on the book “Badavara Rajkumara”: Participants – Manjunath Adde, author of the book, literary-journalist Ch. Ha Raghunath and Dr. Sadhukokila, Dr. Murali Mohan Kati will conduct the conversation. In collaboration with Polish Institute, New Delhi, there will be a lecture and discussion on Polish film culture by renowned Polish film director, ĐAndre Wajda – Centenary Commemoration. Lecture and interaction program on Importance of Preservation, Collection, Digitization of Classic Films in association with NFDC-NFAI, Pune. ‘FIPRESKY 100 years (International Federation of Film Critics) – Film Criticism : The Way Forward (Challenges and Possibilities)’ :- This symposium will be attended by senior film critics.Masterclass on film making process by Maya Chandra.
Golden celebration of 50 years of cinema journey Renowned producer Mrs. Parvathamma Rajkumar, renowned directors Girish Kasaravalli, SV Rajendrasingh Babu, cinematographer S. Ramachandra, popular artist Dr. Jayamala will be screened on the occasion of their 50th anniversary in Kannada cinema.

Closing Ceremony: The closing ceremony will be held on the evening of February 6 at the Sulochana Cinema of the Department of News and Public Relations. Governor Thavarchand Gehlot will preside. On that day, an award ceremony will be held for the winners of the competition categories of Asian, Indian and Kannada films.
Representative Registration: The process of registration of delegates on the Chirotsava website has started from January 16. Those interested can register by visiting the Chithotsava website (biffes.org) and following the Chithotsava Code of Conduct and paying the delegate registration fee. Film buffs above 18 years are eligible to register as delegates.

Delegates who have registered online can collect the Film Festival delegate cards at the following locations of your choice 3 days after registration.
