Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made a bumper contribution in the budget. The central government has announced that it has decided to establish seven high-speed railway corridors connecting major cities including Chennai and Bengaluru.

Under this project, high speed rail lines will be developed between Mumbai-Pune, Pune-Hyderabad, Hyderabad-Bangalore, Hyderabad-Chennai, Chennai-Bangalore, Delhi-Varanasi and Varanasi-Siliguri.

The government’s objective is to significantly reduce travel time through high-speed railway corridors, accelerate economic activities and create employment opportunities. Nirmala Sitharaman said that this project will further strengthen the connectivity between metros and major economic centers.
Nirmala Sitharaman also announced plans to convert existing corridors into high-speed corridors to enable trains like the Vande Bharat Express to operate.
