A very surprising news has come out from Palakkad district of Kerala. Police have seized more than 100 boxes filled with explosives from a pick-up van near Palakkad city in Kerala. An official of Palakkad Town South police station said that they found more than 100 boxes of gelatin sticks and more than 20 boxes of detonators in the vehicle near Palakkad Medical College. This incident has shocked everyone.

What came to light in the police investigation?

According to the information given by the police, these boxes of explosives were hidden under a batch of watermelons. He said that the consignment of explosives was seized late night on Wednesday (February 4, 2026). Police have taken the driver of the vehicle, Senthil, into custody. During preliminary interrogation by the police, the driver revealed that he had loaded the boxes from Coimbatore and was taking them to a mine in Thrissur.

An official has informed that after receiving information about a large quantity of explosives being brought into the state, the police stopped the pickup van while checking the vehicles. But the driver did not stop the vehicle as asked by the police, after which the vehicle was chased and caught. Police recovered explosive material from the vehicle and took the driver into custody.

Case will be registered under Explosive Substances Act

A case is being registered by the police against the driver of the vehicle under the Explosive Substances Act. Initial investigation has also revealed that explosives were being brought secretly for use in the Black Stone Quarry. Even before this, some such cases have come to light. Police are further investigating the matter.
