The scion of India’s richest family who started making movies: Who?

Cinema production is a very risky business. It is very difficult for small pockets to survive and grow here. But now it is a corporate business, some big corporate houses are running cinema production as a systematic business. Many such companies are already active in India, and now the Birla family, which is one of the largest conglomerates and one of the richest families in India, has also ventured into film production.

Birla Group is India’s richest and most popular conglomerate along with Ambani, Tata, Jindal, Adani Group. The Aditya Birla company, which has businesses in fashion, construction, IT, pharmacy, oil and many more sectors, has now entered the entertainment sector as well. Birla Company, which had previously done very small entertainment projects under the name K under another company, has now entered the cinema arena with its name.

Daughter of Kumar Mangalam Birla, who is the current chairman of Aditya Birla Group, entrepreneur Ananya Birla started Birla Studios and ventured into film production and distribution. Ananya Birla has the experience of managing a few other ventures including Birla Fashion, and now she has taken over the responsibility of Birla Studios.

A press release about the studio says, ‘Birla Studios is a film studio focused on producing high-concept, commercial films. The studio’s choice will be stories that will be remembered for a long time, prioritizing craft and long-term relevance. Birla Studios plans to produce commercial films with gritty stories. It will support the best talent, emerging talent and bold ideas.
