Violence again in Manipur.
Violence has once again erupted in the northeastern Indian state of Manipur. Violence broke out between security forces and the mob during the swearing-in ceremony of Nemcha Kipgen and Losi Dikho as Deputy CMs in Churachandpur of the state. Manipur Police has also used tear gas to disperse the protesters. Let us tell you that amid the ongoing violence in Manipur for the last several years, the Central Government had declared President’s rule in the state last year. After this, recently a new government was formed in the state under the leadership of Yumnam Khemchand Singh.
Violence broke out just 24 hours after government formation
Just 24 hours after the removal of President’s rule in Manipur and the formation of the new government of Yumnam Khemchand Singh, violence has erupted once again. Kuki groups who took to the streets in Churachandpur have warned MLAs of their community not to participate in Manipur government formation. Along with this, they observed a complete bandh and protest in Churachandpur. During this period, incidents of firing also took place at many places. Joint Front 7 has called for a 12-hour bandh in Kuki-Zo areas.
Why has violence erupted?
In fact, there is resentment in the entire community due to Kuki-Zo community MLA Nemcha Kipgen becoming the Deputy CM in the Khemchand government and the support of two MLAs. There were protests against the new government in Churachandpur district of the state, after which there is an atmosphere of tension in Tuibong area. The situation remained tense throughout the day, leading to fierce clashes between protesters and security forces. To ensure that the situation does not worsen further, heavy deployment of security forces has been made in the area.
