Now preparations are underway to start the process of Voter Revision Campaign (SIR) in Telangana also. Chief Election Officer (EOC) C Sudarshan Reddy said the SIR of the voter list in the state is expected to be declared during April-May this year. Sudarshan Reddy held a meeting with representatives of recognized political parties on Thursday. During this, he said that Booth Level Agent (BLA) should be selected preferably from the local area of the polling station and should work closely with the booth level officers.

Currently, SIR process is going on in 12 states.

The Chief Electoral Officer told the parties that SIR is currently running in 12 states. The schedule for the rest of the states including Telangana is expected to be announced during April-May 2026. Given the limited time for revision once informed, he said preparation work has already started in the state.

Task given to political parties

Political parties were urged to appoint at least one BLA for every polling station ahead of the upcoming SIR of the voter list. The Chief Electoral Officer emphasized that strong booth-level coordination will be central to the process.

BLA visits every polling area three to four times

Reddy said there should be at least one appointed BLA at every polling booth to help ensure accuracy, transparency and timely resolution of issues during the revision of voter lists.

During Special Intensive Revision (SIR), BLOs are expected to visit each polling area three to four times.

Calculation forms will be distributed

CEO Reddy said enumeration forms would be distributed during the first visit, while subsequent visits would cover those households which were not available earlier. He clarified that voters who have not been mapped during the preparation phase will also be able to give their details during SIR.

BLA appointment should be completed soon

Reddy said the appointment of BLAs for all polling stations should be completed as soon as possible and effective booth-level participation will strengthen coordination, reduce grievances and help ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the voter list.
