The Supreme Court has strongly reprimanded Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore and said that no one should resort to court after losing the election. After the crushing defeat in Bihar elections 2025, Prashant Kishore had filed a petition in the Supreme Court saying that the money from the Women’s Employment Scheme should come into the accounts of women just before voting. Because of this the elections were affected. However, the Election Commission refused to hear the petition. The bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said that when the public rejects you, then the court should not be used to gain popularity.
The hearing was held on Friday on the petition filed by Jan Suraj Party. In this petition, a demand was made to cancel the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, terming them illegal. During the hearing, the court said that we cannot issue notice. The CJI said that an election is made an issue in the election petition. You are talking about canceling the entire election in a single petition. It doesn’t qualify.
What did the CJI say?
The lawyer representing Jan Suraj Party said that this is a very serious issue. The court should intervene in this and seek answers. The Supreme Court commented strongly on this and said, “Do not take recourse to the court after losing the election.” The Chief Justice strongly reprimanded the petitioner. He asked how many votes did your political party get? The court said that when the public rejects the election, then the platform of the court should not be used to gain popularity. The CJI clearly said that anyone can challenge the plan if they want, but the main demand here is to cancel the elections. The court also said that the High Court exists in the concerned state, and the petitioner should go there first.
What happened in Bihar elections?
Voting was held in Bihar on 6 and 11 November 2025. At the same time, money started coming into the accounts of the beneficiaries of the Women Employment Scheme from September 26. Even in October, money had come into the accounts of different women. For this reason, RJD had complained to the Election Commission and demanded a ban on it.
