Along with agreeing to the outline of this interim trade agreement, he described it as a symbol of the growing trust and dynamism in the partnership between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi has also expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump.

PM Modi wrote on social media X – Very good news for India and America! We have agreed on a framework for an interim trade agreement between our two great countries. I thank President Trump for his personal commitment to the strong ties between our two countries.
Will strengthen ‘Make in India’
PM Modi further wrote, “This Framework reflects the growing depth, trust and dynamism of our partnership. It strengthens ‘Make in India’ by opening new opportunities for India’s hardworking farmers, entrepreneurs, MSMEs, startup innovators, fishermen and others. This will create large-scale employment for women and youth. India and the United States are committed to fostering innovation and this Framework will further deepen the investment and technology partnership between us.”
Contribution to global development
Modi wrote – “This framework will also strengthen strong and reliable supply chains and contribute to global development. As India moves towards building a developed India, we are committed to building global partnerships that are future-oriented, empower our people and contribute to shared prosperity.”
Let us tell you that America and India on Saturday announced agreement on the outline of the interim trade agreement. Under this, America will reduce the tariff on India to 18 percent. According to the statement, this framework reflects the commitment of both countries to the negotiations for a comprehensive US-India bilateral trade agreement initiated by President Donald J Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 13, 2025. This framework will include additional market access commitments and will support more robust supply chains. “The interim agreement between the United States and India marks a milestone in our countries’ partnership. It reflects our mutual interests and our shared commitment to bilateral and balanced trade based on tangible results,” the statement said.
