The controversy regarding actor Manoj Bajpayee’s upcoming film ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ is deepening. Objecting to the name of the film, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has now given a strict warning to the producers. The organization says that the name of the film is hurtful and insulting to the sentiments of a particular community. It has made it clear that if the title is not changed immediately then they will boycott the film completely.
FWICE adopted strict stance, sent complaint from Netflix to ZEE5
FWICE has written a letter in this regard to producer organizations like IMPPA, Producers Guild, IFTPC, WIFPA and OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ZEE5 and Sony Liv. In this letter, the organization has expressed its serious concern that the title of the film is inflammatory and allegedly targets a particular community and their traditional livelihood in a derogatory manner, which is not socially acceptable.
Appeal to withdraw the name ‘Ghooskhor Pandit’
The organization has written in the letter, ‘We express our serious concern regarding the controversial title of the film ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ made by Neeraj Pandey and his banner ‘Friday Filmworks’. This title not only targets a community but also insults their traditional livelihood. An appeal has been made to the producers to immediately stop the inflammatory titles and immediately withdraw the name ‘Ghooskhor Pandit’.
FWICE’s blunt warning – there will be boycott if improvement is not made
According to FWICE, the film industry has a moral responsibility to avoid names that spread hate, because every profession is worthy of respect. The organization has warned that if immediate improvements are not made they will advise all their members to withdraw from the manufacturer’s future projects. The organization made it clear that strict action is necessary on this serious matter in the interest of the industry and society, otherwise they will be forced to distance themselves (boycott) from the manufacturer.
The teaser of the film was removed after the strictness of the court and the government.
Let us tell you that after people’s anger over the title of the film came to light on social media, a petition was filed in the Delhi High Court, demanding a ban on its release, while Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also directed to take strict legal action against the producers in this matter. Although director Neeraj Pandey had called it imaginary, the teaser has been removed for now to avoid increasing pressure and legal complications.
