Malappuram: The vigilance of Kerala Police has exposed a very big case. According to reports, police recovered over 10,500 gelatin sticks, detonators and wires from a truck in Chemmad area of Malappuram district on Saturday. According to the police, this truck appeared to be filled with onions, but they were surprised to see dangerous explosives hidden in the middle. Police said that the truck was parked near the brick kiln late on Friday night. On receiving a secret information the police team reached the spot. As soon as the police arrived, some people who were unloading goods from the truck ran away.
Police detained the owner of the truck
On Saturday morning, the police unloaded the goods from the truck and examined the entire contents. A total of 245 boxes were recovered from the boxes hidden among the onion sacks. These were filled with more than 10,500 gelatin sticks, detonators and wires. The owner of the truck is a woman who has been taken into custody by the police. The officer said that this woman also runs a stone quarry. It is suspected that these explosives and gelatin sticks were brought to be used in illegal mining work. All these explosives were brought from outside Kerala. Police are now investigating to find out their real source.
On February 4, explosives were found in a truck loaded with watermelons.
According to reports, counting of the quantity of explosives has been completed and FIR will be registered in this case soon. Let us tell you that this is the second major seizure in recent times in Kerala. Earlier on February 4, police had recovered 18,000 gelatin sticks and 4,200 detonators from a vehicle laden with watermelons in Kadamcode area of Palakkad district.
