7 Maoists killed in encounter in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra

In Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, security forces have achieved great success in the joint operation of Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). During this intensive operation that lasted for three days and three nights, the police killed 7 Maoists in a fierce encounter. Among the killed Maoists is Prabhakar alias Loketi Chandra Rao, in-charge of Gadchiroli divisional committee and commander of West Sub-Zonal Bureau. A total reward of Rs 71 lakh was declared on all of them.

There was a reward of Rs 25 lakh on Prabhakar

Officials said Prabhakar, a resident of Kamareddy in Telangana, was leading ‘Company No. 10’ of the Maoists. The government had declared a reward of Rs 25 lakh on him. Police have recovered 3 AK-47 rifles and one self-loading rifle (SLR) from the spot. The 7 Naxalites killed include 4 men and 3 women. These include senior Maoists of 1 PPCM, and 2 ACM level. There was a reward of Rs 46 lakh on these 6.

Operation went on for 72 hours in the forest

Officials said that this operation started on Tuesday after intelligence agencies received information about Naxalites hiding near Fodewada village (Gadchiroli-Narayanpur border). Under the leadership of SDPO of Bhamragarh, 14 squads of C-60 and QAT team of CRPF surrounded the forest. After this, on Wednesday the soldiers blew up two Naxalite camps. 3 bodies were recovered on Thursday night and 4 more bodies were recovered on Friday.

A soldier was also martyred in the encounter

In this operation, 38-year-old soldier Deepak Chinna Madavi of C-60 commando unit was martyred. Deepak was badly injured in the first encounter. He was airlifted to Bhamragarh, but he died during treatment. He was cremated with full state honors in his native village on Saturday. Another soldier Joga Madavi has also been injured in the encounter, but he is out of danger.
