New Delhi: Questions have now been raised regarding West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally appearing in the Supreme Court and giving arguments. In this regard, a new application has been filed in the Supreme Court, in which it has been said that it is not right for a sitting Chief Minister to come to the court like this.

This application has been filed on behalf of Satish Kumar Aggarwal, Vice President of All India Hindu Mahasabha. He says that Mamata Banerjee’s coming to the court herself can create a kind of “symbolic pressure” on the court.

Last week, Mamata Banerjee herself appeared in the Supreme Court. He spoke on his petition filed regarding the ongoing SIR process in West Bengal. This matter is related to Special Revision (SIR) related to voter list.

“This is not a personal issue, it is a state issue.”

It has been said in the application that this is not a personal matter, but an issue related to the state, hence the Chief Minister should have presented the matter not personally but through the lawyers on behalf of the state. It has also been said in the application that the state government is already present in the court through its lawyers, hence there was no need for the personal appearance of the Chief Minister.

It has been said in this petition that people holding high constitutional posts should avoid coming to the court themselves, so that the dignity of the court is maintained and the cases are not given a personal nature. The question has also been raised in the application whether Mamata Banerjee had the right to file a petition in this matter under Article 32 of the Constitution, because there is no mention of violation of any of her fundamental rights. The case will be heard tomorrow by a bench led by CJI Surya Kant.

Targeting Bengal: CM Mamata

Apart from this, the Supreme Court will hear various petitions filed in the West Bengal SIR case tomorrow i.e. on 09 February. Mamata Banerjee herself was present in the court during the last hearing. He had sought permission to fight and argue his case. CJI asked Mamata to let her lawyer argue the case. Mamta says that they are only targeting Bengal by appointing micro observers. Mamta said save democracy. Mamta further said that in the first phase, 58 lakh names were removed and they have no scope to appeal through Form-6 and in the second phase, 1.30 crore names were removed, what system are they maintaining in other states, they are only targeting West Bengal and only for Bengal they have appointed these micro-observers to bulldoze the people of West Bengal.
