New Delhi: A big controversy has arisen even before the publication of former Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane’s upcoming book ‘Four Stars of Destiny’. Delhi Police has taken a tough stance after reports of pre-print copy (PDF) of this book allegedly being leaked online.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, Delhi Police has registered a case in the Special Cell regarding the possibility of this alleged leak or publication without permission. Police say that the entire matter is being thoroughly investigated and it will be found out how and who put the PDF online?

What is the whole matter?

Delhi Police had received information through various social media platforms and news forums that a pre-print copy of General Naravane’s book was being circulated indiscriminately. It is worth noting that this book is yet to get clearance for publication from the concerned military and government authorities.

Sales claim on online platform

Initial investigation by the police revealed that a PDF copy of a type-set book named ‘Four Stars of Destiny’ is available on some websites. On some e-commerce and online marketing platforms, the final cover page of the book is being displayed as if it is available for sale.

Issue of General Naravane’s book

In fact, recently during the budget session, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi had mentioned excerpts from this book. While discussing the motion of thanks on the President’s address, Rahul Gandhi had cited an article published in a magazine, which was said to be based on the book of General Naravane. Rahul Gandhi claimed that some things have been said in the book regarding the 2020 Ladakh standoff (Galwan and Doklam) and Agneepath plan which are different from the claims of the government. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah had expressed strong objection to this. He said that the book which has not yet been approved by the Defense Ministry and has not been officially published, cannot be quoted on the table of the House.
