Organizations like All India Trade Union Congress and United Kisan Morcha have announced a bandh across the country. Trade unions have called this strike in support of the demand for withdrawal of four labor codes, Electricity Bill 2025, Seed Bill 2025 and Animal and Livestock and Animal Agriculture Act 2025. In such a situation, the Kerala government has said that if any government employee participates in such a strike, his salary will be deducted.

The Kerala government has warned that if government employees participate in the nationwide strike, their salaries will be cut. Following the nationwide strike by various trade unions, the LDF government in Kerala has announced no work no pay for the striking employees. The government issued an order late on Wednesday night, in which it was said that salary will be withheld in case of absence without permission.

Leave will be given on strict conditions on the day of strike

Amid the strike by some state government employee organizations and teachers on February 12, the government circular said leave will be granted to employees only on strict conditions. According to the order, government employees and teachers will not be given any leave on the day of strike.

Leave will be given only for four reasons

  • Illness of the individual or a close relative (close relative includes spouse, children, father and mother of the Government servant)
  • for employee examination
  • For employee’s maternity
  • Other similar important reasons

Strike is taking place for these demands

All India general strike is taking place for different demands. Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) called upon farmers to join hands with trade union workers. SKM in a statement said the strike includes withdrawal of four labor codes, Electricity Bill-2025, Seed Bill-2025 and VB-G Ram Ji Act-2025, restoration of the old pension scheme, implementation of minimum wages for workers including scheme workers and other demands. The platform of agricultural labor unions and NREGA Sangharsh Morcha (NSM) will also support and participate in the protests across the country, the statement said. “SKM calls on the public to protest against all the new attacks on farmers, workers and common people by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the Centre,” the statement said. “SKM appeals to all farmers to join the protest en masse, burn effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, besides burning copies of free trade agreements,” the statement said. This is a demonstration to show solidarity with industrial workers and against all anti-people, pro-corporate policies of the government.
