The Congress candidate contesting from Ward No. 10 of Ashwarapet Municipality of Bhadradri Kothagudem district in Telangana got angry with the public for not getting votes. In fact, fearing defeat, the Congress candidate distributed cash and pressure cookers to the voters, but despite this the public did not vote. Angered by this, he started demanding return of the distributed pressure cooker and money from the people. The Congress leader claimed that despite distributing money and cookers he was not voted for.
The incident took place in Ashwarapet Municipality, where angry people protested by placing the distributed cookers in the middle of the road. The dramatic display caught the attention of local officials and passersby, escalating political rhetoric in the area.
Asked for return of pressure cooker and return from public
According to ward people, the Congress candidate had allegedly distributed money and household items, including pressure cookers, before voting. However, when the election results showed that the party did not win the ward, the candidate allegedly started demanding the return of the goods from the beneficiary. Many voters who had gathered to protest asked, “We never asked for money or a cooker. Why are we being insulted now?” People said they felt insulted by this demand and accused the candidate of trying to intimidate them.

As soon as the news of the protest spread, police officers reached the spot so that the matter did not escalate. Authorities briefly detained some people to disperse the crowd and restore peace, although no major clashes were reported. Police said the situation was under control and appealed to the leaders to maintain peace.
Ward members expressed anger, calling it a pressure tactic. He also said that voters have the right to choose as per their wish without any fear. Local authorities have not yet confirmed whether any formal complaint has been filed against the candidate. Meanwhile, the people of 10th Ward say that they will continue to demand action against what is insulting their dignity.
