US President Donald Trump on Friday confirmed that he will visit Beijing in April this year and meet Chinese President Xi Jinping. President Trump took a positive stance on bilateral relations with China, telling reporters, “Our relationship with China is very good right now. I will meet with President Jinping in April. He will come to the United States later this year, and I look forward to that meeting.”
There was a 90-minute long conversation between the two on February 4.

Trump said after the conversation that he spoke to Jinping on trade and other geopolitical issues such as the situation in Iran, the Russia-Ukraine war and Taiwan. “During the conversation, President Jinping graciously invited the First Lady and me to visit China, and I invited her too. What will be the meaning of this meeting?
Trump and Jinping last met in October 2025. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference in Busan, South Korea. Earlier, Trump had met Jinping at the Osaka G-20 summit in 2019 during his first term. This time the meeting will boost Beijing-Washington ties, including reviewing strained trade ties and agreements.
