Valentine’s Day: Chandra-Devadas love instead of Paru-Devadas

One of the most popular Indian love stories comes to mind is the story of Paru-Devdas. Paru-Devadas story is also a movie in several languages. Each time the story of Paru-Devadas is told in a different way. But this is the first time that Devdas and Chandra Premakate is all set to hit the screen. Chandra is the name of the courtesan in Devdas-Paru’s love story. In the story of Devdas-Paru, Chandra is a supporting character, but now a director has decided to make a film about Devdas and Chandra’s love affair, making Chandra the heroine. The name of the movie is ‘DC’ (Devadas-Chandra).

Lokesh Kanakaraj, the director of movies ‘Kaidi’, ‘Leo’, ‘Vikram’, ‘Coolie’ has now made his entry as a hero, and he is the hero through the movie ‘DC’. This is the story of modern Devdas and Chandra, the teaser of the movie ‘DC’ has been released today (February 14). In the teaser that has been released, there is a lot of bloodshed, and for this reason, the director has called the movie ‘DC’ as a ‘bloody love story’.

While Lokesh Kanakaraj is seen in the role of ‘Devadas’, he is paired with Bollywood actress Vamika Gabbi in the role of ‘Chandra’, a courtesan. Actress Sanjana Krishnamurthy is playing the lead role of ‘Parvati’. If you look at the teaser that has been released now, you get a clue that the protagonist will choose between the prostitute and his first love after the prostitute falls in love with the broken man.

Arun Matteswaran, who directed ‘Captain Miller’ and ‘Rocky’ starring Dhanush and Sivaraj Kumar, is directing this ‘DC’ film. Lokesh’s close friend Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for this film. The promo released today seems to show the old story of Devdas in a modern gangster backdrop. Lokesh appeared in a mass look with a knife in his bloodied hand and has created curiosity among fans. A blend of love and violence, the film has a theme of ‘Bloody Valentine’.

Produced by Sun Pictures, the film is slated to hit the screens in the summer of 2026. Lokesh, who has been successful as a director, now it remains to be seen how much impact he will make as an actor.
