Why is ‘Ramayana’ being produced with a budget of 4000 crores? Answered producer

Producer Namit Malhotra, who has a studio that has already made a big name in Hollywood for the biggest budget movie of Indian cinema, ‘Ramayana’, has invested in this movie. Earlier, he had said that he had taken up this film with the solid intention of bringing value to Indian cinema in Hollywood. Namit Malhotra, who has spoken in another interview, has expressed his displeasure with the way India and Indian culture are portrayed in Hollywood.

Speaking at a recent event, Namit said, ‘When I went to Hollywood, I noticed that there was no proper representation of our history or culture there. This kept bothering me. Although Indians are recognized globally in the fields of finance and medicine, they do not respect or understand our culture properly in the field of cinema.

‘Hollywood’s view of us has not changed since many years. Whether in films like ‘Slundog Millionaire’ or other films, Indians are only shown as victims or poor. It hurt me a lot. The film ‘Ramayana’ was born out of the desire to show our rich history and heritage to make the whole world proud. He said that he is making the movie ‘Ramayana’ to reply to Hollywood.

This movie being directed by Nitesh Tiwari will be released in two parts. The shooting of the movie is going on and Namit has invested around 4000 crores (including both parts) on the movie. According to him, this is the biggest independent budget movie in the world. This means that instead of different companies, only one company has invested a huge budget on the movie. So Namit called it as Swatanriya Financed.

Many famous actors and actresses have worked in this movie. Ranbir Kapoor is playing the role of Sri Rama in this movie. Sai Pallavi plays Sita’s character, actor Yash plays Ravana’s role and is also producing. Sunny Deol, Vijay Sethupathi, Kajal Aggarwal and many other artists are in the movie. The music for the movie is composed by Oscar winning music directors AR Rahman and Hans Jaimer. The movie is directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The first part of the film is expected to release during Diwali festival this year. The second part will hit the screens on Diwali 2027.
