Seven people were seriously injured when a chariot suddenly overturned during a temple festival in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. The 60 feet high chariot taken out in the procession suddenly overturned. This chariot was part of the Maynakolai festival. According to the information, Mayna Kollai festival is celebrated in the honor of the dead, for which Rath Yatra is taken out and chariots are prepared for the celebration. Even before this, a few years ago the chariot of Shobha Yatra had overturned.

In the year 2024 also, during the chariot festival of the same temple, the chariot overturned when it was preparing to take the idol of Angalaparameswari Amman to the banks of Palaru river. Eyewitnesses had said that as soon as the devotees tried to rotate the chariot, its balance was lost and the upper part collapsed. In the incident, 30-year-old Vimalraj Venmani got trapped under the chariot.
