Hassan: A surprising case has come to light from Hassan district of Karnataka. Recently, a woman who had come here to attend a wedding suddenly went missing. Now this matter has taken a new turn. Hassan police has succeeded in tracing the missing woman Priyanka. Police investigation revealed that Priyanka had staged her disappearance as part of a conspiracy to leave her husband and start a new life with her lover. Police conducted an operation based on call details (CDR) and traced Priyanka to Kunigal in Tumkur district.
The marriage took place two years ago
Actually, 29-year-old Priyanka, a resident of Kunigal in Tumkur district, was married to a man from Chikmagalur two years ago. Last Friday, Priyanka had gone to a friend’s wedding in Kalkera village of Hassan taluka. She left her clothes, shoes and other belongings in a nearby canal and ran away. Priyanka thought her husband would think she was dead. After coming to know about this, the husband lodged a missing report of Priyanka with the police and expressed suspicion that Priyanka was wearing jewelery worth Rs 30 lakh and it was possible that she might have been murdered to get the jewellery.
Woman arrested with her lover
However, when the police started investigation, they saw Priyanka in the CCTV footage installed at Belur bus stand. Subsequently, based on cellphone location, they confirmed that her boyfriend David was nearby and both were later taken into custody. A woman named Priyanka faked her disappearance to distract her family and be with her lover. According to initial investigation, Priyanka and her boyfriend were working at the same place. Hassan district police traced the woman within just 12 hours of registering the case. Police have seized about 150 grams of gold jewelery taken from the house. The woman is currently undergoing medical test and the police are reviewing further legal action.
