New Delhi: After the recently held general elections in Bangladesh, the new Prime Minister has been selected. Tariq Rahman took oath as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh today. From the Indian side, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had gone to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Tariq Rehman. In this meeting, Om Birla heartily congratulated Tariq Rehman on his assumption of office and expressed best wishes on behalf of the Government of India. He also handed over a personal congratulatory letter sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Tariq Rehman. This letter underlines the strong relations and spirit of cooperation between the two countries.

Now PM Narendra Modi has written a letter to Bangladesh PM Tariq Rahman. Along with this, PM Modi has also invited Tariq Rehman to visit India. PM Modi, in his letter to Tariq Rahman, wrote, “I heartily congratulate you on the victory of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in the recently concluded parliamentary elections in Bangladesh and your appointment as the next Prime Minister of Bangladesh. I wish you every success in assuming the higher responsibilities of this office.”

Tariq Rahman becomes Prime Minister of Bangladesh
Let us tell you that Tariq Rahman took oath as the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh on Tuesday, a few days after giving a landslide victory to his party in the general elections of Bangladesh. President Mohammad Shahabuddin, breaking from long-standing tradition, administered the oath of office to 60-year-old Tariq Rahman at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad instead of the Bangabhaban. Earlier in the day, Tariq Rahman was elected as the parliamentary party leader by Bangladesh Nationalist Party MPs.
