Actor Vijay Verma is ready to create a stir once again on the digital platform. His upcoming much awaited web series ‘Matka King’ is going to premiere on OTT which was being awaited since last year. The name of this series may be interesting, but the story will be full of crime and drama based on the 1960s. ‘Matka King’, announced for June 2024, is produced by Nagraj Manjule, who has made films like ‘Jhund’ and ‘Sairat’.

mid-day According to the report, ‘Matka King’ is ready for release in April, 2026. It will premiere on Amazon Prime Video. The source said, “The shooting was completed in 2025 and the top executives of the streaming platform wanted to release it in the same year. But a show of such a large scale needed time to deliver the best results. The show will authentically present 1960s Mumbai and is Nagraj’s first period drama.”

The story will be based on a cotton trader

The source further added, “The director does not believe in rushing to complete the work within the deadline. The show is now ready and set to release online in April.” The series will tell the story of a cotton merchant from Mumbai who invented a form of gambling called ‘Matka’. It is expected that the makers will announce its official release soon. Vijay was last seen in the film ‘Gustakh Ishq’ (released in November, 2025).
