The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert regarding hailstorm in Haryana, northern parts of Madhya Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan. Along with this, it has been told that there may be lightning along with thunder in the northern areas of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Western Rajasthan and Gujarat. Along with this, there may be light rain. Yellow alert has been issued in these states. The IMD said due to the Western Disturbance, light to moderate rainfall/snowfall is likely over the western Himalayan region and light rainfall with thunder and lightning over the plains of northwest India on February 18.
The weather is expected to remain normal in most parts of the country in the coming days. Strong winds along with lightning and light rain may occur in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Orange alert has also been issued in Kerala and Tamil Nadu regarding lightning and light rain around February 20.

- Maximum temperatures over northwest plains of India are likely to rise gradually by 2-4 degrees Celsius for the next 2 days.
- Minimum temperatures over northwest India are likely to drop gradually by 2-4 degrees Celsius in the next 48 hours and no significant change is expected for 5 days thereafter.
- There is no possibility of any significant change in the minimum temperature over East India in the next 2 days and after that there will be a gradual increase of 2-3 degree Celsius in the next 2 days. There is no possibility of any significant change after this.
- The minimum temperature in Maharashtra is likely to rise gradually by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next 5 days and no significant change is expected for the next 2 days.
- In the next 3 days, the minimum temperature in Gujarat state may gradually increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius and after that no significant change is likely for 4 days.
- Maximum temperatures over the plains of northwest India are likely to drop by 2-4 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours, followed by a gradual fall of 2-4 degrees Celsius for 2 days.
- Celsius will increase. There is no possibility of any significant change after this.
- There is no possibility of any significant change in the maximum temperature over Central India in the next 5 days and a gradual decline of 2-3 degree Celsius is likely to occur in the subsequent 2 days.
- No significant change in maximum temperatures is likely over Gujarat state, Maharashtra and Goa in the next 2 days and a gradual rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius is likely in the subsequent 5 days.
Light rain in Delhi
The temperature dropped due to light drizzle in various parts of Delhi on Wednesday and the maximum temperature stood at 21.1 degrees Celsius, 3.3 degrees below this season’s average. This information was given by India Meteorological Department (IMD). According to the IMD, from 8:30 am Tuesday to 5:30 pm Wednesday, 0.5 mm rainfall was recorded in Safdarjung, 2.1 mm in Palam, 0.7 mm in Lodhi Road and 0.9 mm in Ayanagar. The maximum temperature in Safdarjung was 21.1 degrees Celsius, 3.3 degrees below normal. The temperature in Palam was 4.1 degrees below normal at 20.3 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in Lodhi Road was 3.4 degrees below average at 20.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Ridge was recorded at 20.2 degrees Celsius, 2.9 degrees below normal, and Ayanagar recorded 19.5 degrees Celsius, 3.8 degrees below average, the IMD said.
Yellow alert in Delhi also
The Meteorological Department has predicted the sky to be generally cloudy and light rain in some areas, along with thunderstorms and lightening. ‘Yellow alert’ has been issued for Delhi. This indicates the possibility of bad weather, which may affect daily activities. The minimum temperature in Safdarjung was recorded at 15.8 degrees Celsius, 4.8 degrees above the season’s average, IMD said. The Meteorological Department has predicted the maximum temperature for Thursday to be between 27 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature to be between 13 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘poor’ category and the average air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 214.
