New Delhi: As February progresses, fluctuations in temperature are seen. From North India to South India, people are experiencing different types of situations. In the hilly states, it is sunny at some places and raining at other places. At the same time, heat is being felt in the plains during the day while the effect of cold is visible after midnight. According to the Meteorological Department, no significant rain is expected in major cities of North India including Delhi and Lucknow on February 20.

Lowest temperature recorded in Amritsar

Minimum temperatures between 7-12°C are being recorded in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya. Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Saurashtra and Kutch and many parts of eastern India are recording minimum temperatures of 12-15°C. The lowest minimum temperature in the plains of India at 8.7°C was observed in Amritsar (Punjab).

Maximum temperature reached 36.2°C in Kerala

The highest maximum temperature of 36.2°C in the plains of India during the last 24 hours was observed in Punalur (Kerala). Maximum temperatures in Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Mahe remained between 34-38°C. Temperatures in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gujarat region, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh were 3-5 degrees Celsius above normal. That means the heat is gradually increasing in these states.

Minimum temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 2-3°C over northwest India in the next 7 days. The minimum temperature in Maharashtra may gradually increase by 2-3°C in the next 4 days. At least there will be no significant change in the temperature in the rest of the country.

Rain warning in these states

According to the information given by the Meteorological Department, there may be rain with strong winds in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Mahe during the next 24 hours. There is a possibility of rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand during February 22-24.

Delhi weather

The sky will be mostly clear in Delhi-NCR on Friday. There will be fog in the morning. The maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to be between 27°C to 29°C and the minimum temperature is likely to be between 12°C to 14°C. Winds can blow at a speed of 15 km during the day.
