Union Minister Piyush Goyal informed that the US-India trade agreement will come into effect in April.

What is the news?

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday that the trade agreement between India and America will come into effect from April. It was told that to finalize the legal draft of the interim trade agreement, officials of India and America will hold a 3-day meeting from February 23, which will start in America. It was announced earlier this month that a framework for an interim trade agreement had been finalized.

Agreements signed with Britain, Oman and New Zealand will also be applicable

Goyal also said that India’s free trade agreements (FTAs) signed with Britain and Oman are also expected to be implemented in April. India’s trade agreement with New Zealand will be implemented in September this year. An FTA has also been signed with the European Union (EU), on which some permissions are still awaited, after which it can be implemented by the end of the year.

American ambassador has also claimed to sign soon

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore said on the trade agreement that teams from both the countries are talking to each other and reaching a place where both can be signed. He told that there are thousands of points in the agreement, which cannot be hurried because we are making a deal with a small country but with one of the largest economies. He said that he is happy that an interim agreement has been reached. The signing will happen soon.
