When the SIR process started on October 27 last year, there were a total of 21.45 crore registered voters in these states. After the final list was published, this number has come down to 19.75 crore. This list includes Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Goa, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

SIR process going on in 12 states

This campaign of the Election Commission has not stopped yet. The process is currently being conducted in 12 states, out of which the SIR data for Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu is likely to be released by the end of this month. As part of the nationwide voter list verification drive, the next phase of the SIR process is scheduled to begin in April this year. However, the Commission has also assured that voter list updation is a continuous process and eligible citizens can still apply for correction or name addition.
