Israel has proposed to give Golden Horizon missile to India

What is the news?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Israel this week. Earlier news has come that Israel has reportedly made a special offer of Golden Horizon Air-Launched Ballistic Missile (ALBM) to India. This is the first time that Israel has proposed to sell this missile to any country. It is being said that India is considering this proposal of Israel. Let us know the features of these missiles.

Know about Golden Horizon Missile

The ‘Golden Horizon’ missiles are designed to target fortified and underground strategic facilities. These can be launched by India’s Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter planes. This missile system, about 8 meters long and weighing 3 tons, is taken from Israel’s Silver Sparrow missile. It has been improved and converted into an operational weapon, which can be launched from fighter aircraft.

What is the specialty of the missile?

According to different reports, the missile’s range is between 1,000 and 2,000 kilometers. Defense experts estimate that its maximum speed can reach hypersonic level, i.e. 5 times the speed of sound. In such a situation, it becomes challenging to stop it by conventional air defense systems. This missile uses advanced dual inertial and GPS guidance systems to deliver high-precision attacks. The biggest feature is its ability to be fired from air.

How much will India’s strength increase after getting missiles?

This missile will be integrated with the Sukhoi Su-30MKI aircraft of the Indian Air Force, which will increase the Air Force’s ability to strike from a distance. Many countries have ground-launched ballistic missiles, but this air-launched missile will keep India one step ahead. Due to its speed exceeding Mach 5 and modern technology, it cannot be caught by conventional air defense systems.

Pakistan

Important also from the perspective of China-Pakistan alliance

Security experts have been continuously raising concerns about the joint challenge posed by China and Pakistan to India. While China is increasing its deployment on the northern front, Pakistan is busy strengthening its position in the west through weapons received from China. In such a situation, due to this missile’s long range, air-launching capability and the ability to attack underground strategic locations, India will be able to deal without putting its aircraft and soldiers in danger.
