Students have raised serious questions regarding the first semester examination results of Sonpur College affiliated to Rajendra University of Odisha. Students say that in the recently released results, huge discrepancies have been seen in both theory and internal marks. The most shocking thing is that some students have been shown marks as high as 102 and 105 in the 100 marks exam. At the same time, the internal marks of many students have been reduced.

System failure or typing error?

College student Sumant Jagdala said that in many papers more marks are visible than the total marks. He said, “Someone is seeing 102 or 105 marks out of 100, while someone’s internal marks have been reduced from 40 to 18. It is beyond comprehension how this can happen.”

Student Smita Rani Hota also shared her problem. He told that he had given the Honors examination of 100 marks, but his result showed 101 marks. His internal assessment was 40, but 35 is recorded in the result. He raised questions as to how the marks could increase or decrease without any information.

Exam controller calls students ‘nonsense students’

Student Shubham Prasad Mishra alleged that when he approached the university authorities with his complaint, he did not get a satisfactory response. He says that the exam controller came to the college, but refused to answer the students’ questions and allegedly called the students ‘nonsense students’. The principal admitted the mistake and promised to improve within 15 days.

On this entire matter, college principal Radhakant Nayak said that an investigation was conducted after receiving the complaint. Roll numbers have been taken from the affected students. Incidentally, the Deputy Controller was present in the college at that time. The students spoke to him directly on which he has assured to correct all the errors within 15 days. According to the principal, most of the errors seem to be related to the typing of internal marks. These will be rectified by the university after the portal reopens.

Threat to the future due to irregularities in results

According to the information, technical flaws have come to light in the examination system of the university. In many cases, more marks have been recorded than the total marks, while the internal marks of many students have been reduced. Especially the students of History Honors are said to be more affected. Students say that if improvements are not made in time, it will have a direct impact on their future and career. He has demanded from the college and university administration that all the errors should be corrected as soon as possible as per the rules and such mistakes should not be repeated in future.

At present the college administration says that the university has been informed about the entire matter and the process of improvement will be completed soon.
