New Delhi: Due to increase in temperature in many states of the country, the effect of heat is now visible. The weather is warmer than normal in most parts of northern and central India. Due to clear sky and lack of western disturbance in most of the states of the country, there is very little hope of rain in the month of March. Due to this, the mercury is rising rapidly in North and Western India.

Meteorological Department IMD has issued a heatwave warning for Himachal Pradesh, Western Rajasthan and Gujarat for March 7-10. Apart from this, heat wave warning has been issued in the districts of Andhra Pradesh and Northern Tamil Nadu. The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of heat wave in western Rajasthan on March 10 and 11. There may be severe heat in Konkan on 9 March and coastal areas of Gujarat on 9 and 10 March. Heat wave conditions may also occur at many places in South and Central Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining districts of Rayalaseema and North Tamil Nadu on March 7 and 8. Apart from this, heat may increase in many areas of Maharashtra.
40.8 degree temperature recorded in Amravati
Heatwave like situation is being seen in the coastal areas of Gujarat and Maharashtra for the last several days. In desert districts of Rajasthan like Jaisalmer and Jodhpur, the temperature can reach 40°C during the weekend. During the last 24 hours, the maximum day temperature in many areas of Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan remained between 37-41°C. The highest maximum temperature of 40.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Amravati (Maharashtra) in the plains of India.
Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and Western Rajasthan are recording temperatures 3-7 degrees Celsius above normal. Temperatures 2-5°C above normal were recorded in Uttarakhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa. The lowest minimum temperature of 10.9°C was observed in Fatehpur (Rajasthan) in the plains of India.

The sky will be clear in Delhi-NCR. The maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to be between 34°C to 36°C and the minimum temperature is likely to be between 16°C to 18°C. The maximum temperature in Delhi will be much above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at many places. Wind can blow at a speed of 16 km in the afternoon.
