Kozhikode: A strange case has come to light in Kozhikode district of Kerala. Here a shopkeeper offered expensive shoes for just one rupee. After this, people from many districts reached his shop. People started gathering at the shop late in the night, after which the crowd increased considerably. The situation became so bad that a stampede-like situation occurred on the spot. Ultimately the police had to resort to lathi charge to control the crowd. According to the offer of the shop, he was going to give shoes to the first 100 customers at one rupee, due to which there was a race to reach first.
Crowd started gathering late at night
In fact, during the promotional campaign of a shop selling expensive shoes for just one rupee in Kozhikode district of Kerala, a huge crowd gathered on Sunday morning. To control this crowd, the police had to resort to lathicharge. According to the information, attracted by the viral advertisements, hundreds of customers reached the area early in the morning, creating a stampede-like situation. Due to the crowd, traffic in the area also started getting disrupted, after which the police had to take action. According to the police, the shopkeeper had advertised to give shoes to the first 100 customers for just one rupee, after which the crowd started gathering from 2 o’clock in the night.
Police had to resort to lathi charge
Police said the crowd was so large that the shop exceeded its capacity of customers, including children. The surprising thing was that people had also come from districts like Wayanad. A boy from Wayanad told that he reached the shop at 2.30 in the night, but there was already a huge crowd there. Due to the huge crowd of people, there was chaos in the area and traffic was completely disrupted. When the situation went out of control, the police had to intervene and a mild lathi charge was used to stop the stampede. Following the chaos, the shop owner was taken into custody for creating tension in the area.
