Chi Gurudutt, who was a guest at the 25th anniversary celebrations of Vishnuvardhan starrer Kotigobba, spoke about the bond between Shivanna and Vishnuvardhan. He narrated the events that he had personally seen. As everyone knows, Guru Dutt’s father is the famous actor Chi Udayashankar. He once planned to make a film with Vishnuvardhan. In particular, it was the kind of story where Shivraj Kumar was the hero of the movie and Vishnuvardhan was the sub-hero. The name of the movie is ‘Krishna-Arjuna’.

When Udaya Shankar asked Shivraj Kumar about this film, Vishnuvardhan said, ‘If Udaya Shankar himself is good for you, then of course I will do the film.’ Even then Vishnuvardhan was a star actor, yet Vishnuvardhan agreed to act as a new actor.
Once there was a success party of ‘Satya Jyoti’ movie at Ashoka Hotel. Vishnuvardhan who had come there said that I should meet Shivraj Kumar. Even then only Shivraj Kumar’s first movie was released. Gurudutt immediately brought Shivraj Kumar. Then Vishnuvardhan said, ‘You will become a very big star. I see you grow up to be a star. The day you become a star will be the happiest day for me’.
Not only that, Vishnuvardhan gifted one of his watches to Shivraj Kumar. It is as if the speech was actually given to Vishnuvardhan by late Tamil legendary actor MGR. Vishnuvardhan seems to have given that rare speech to the young Shivanna.
