Bhopal: A major achievement is about to be achieved in the direction of strengthening the road connectivity between Madhya Pradesh’s economic capital Indore and Telangana’s capital Hyderabad. Construction of an ambitious highway on the corridor connecting Indore to Telangana capital Hyderabad will be completed by the end of this year, an official of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said on Monday. This project will not only save time in travel but will also effectively curb road accidents in the area.
when will the work be completed
NHAI Regional Officer Shravan Kumar Singh told reporters after inspecting the construction work that the work on Indore-Ichchapur National Highway being built in Madhya Pradesh will be completed by December this year. He said that due to the four-lane highway, travel between Indore and Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga will become easier. Singh said, “Due to this highway, the movement of vehicles between Indore and Hyderabad via Jalgaon in Maharashtra will also become easier.” With the opening of this four-lane highway, not only will the movement between Hyderabad and Jalgaon in Maharashtra become easier, but religious tourism will also get a big boost. Now the journey will be more comfortable in less time for the devotees going to Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga from Indore.
construction of three tunnels
Officials said that the construction work in the 33.40 km long section between Tejaji Nagar in Indore to Balwara in Khargone district under the highway is quite challenging as the route passes through inaccessible hilly areas and steep ghats. He said that by eliminating the ghat section on this section, three tunnels are being constructed with modern electronic blasting technology to strengthen the road safety.
safe and smooth travel
Officials said that these include 575 meter long Bherughat Tunnel, 550 meter long Choral Ghat Tunnel and 480 meter long Baigram Tunnel. He said that the construction of these tunnels will free the drivers from steep, narrow and risky roads and the traffic on the highway will be made safe and smooth.
