Amid the war raging in West Asia, there is talk of reduction in the supply of LPG cylinders in the country, which has increased the concern of the people at the national level. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday. The Prime Minister has held a high-level meeting with both the ministers and officials of the concerned departments.
Concern increased in the country
Shortage of LPG cylinders has come to light in many cities including Mumbai and Bengaluru. Hotel and Restaurant Association has said to stop the work. Meanwhile, the government has invoked the Essential Commodities Act (ESMA) to ensure the supply of LPG to the priority sector is maintained. The government has extended the gas booking period and also increased the prices.
